Hi, I’m Claire!

I am a Graphic Design student at Columbia College Chicago. While working through my senior year of my undergraduate education, I am setting up my professional online presence – to market myself to future employers. Later in the semester, Kaiserman Design will be showcasing the online portfolio of my graphic design work, as well as my multimedia interests of printmaking and woodworking.

For now, this site will be home to my blog, where I will discuss my inspirations for design, personal projects, and more. I appreciate you stopping by my corner of the internet, and viewing a site-in-progress!

    Learning in Web Design

For my last blog post of the semester, I wanted to do a reflection about what I have learned while being a part of this Web Design II class. I am walking away from the semester with a lot more knowledge – though not necessarily in the ways that I expected. This class has really…

    Printmaking & Graphic Design

When thinking about the suggested prompt for this week’s blog post, “the lesser-known or the underrepresented,” the idea that came up for me was is how the Printmaking Facilities at Columbia College Chicago seem to still be flying relatively under-the-radar to Graphic Design students. In the spring of my freshman year at Columbia, I took one of my first big leaps of faith academically. I had received an email newsletter from the Art & Design departments that featured a few classes that were going to be offered in the upcoming semester. If I remember correctly, I saw the email…

    Alex and Krafts

One of my favorite things to do in Chicago around the holidays is perusing any of the endless makers markets hosted around the city. Yes, these events happen year-round. But, the further away we get from Halloween, and the closer we get towards Thanksgiving, it seems like they multiply exponentially every weekend. I love the…

Sister Corita & Working on Campus

I work as a student employee in the Fabrication Facility and the Printmaking Facility in the 623 South Wabash Columbia College Chicago building. In semesters past I have only worked in the 10th floor in the Fabrication Facility. However, after taking the Printmaking I class last semester, I felt comfortable signing myself up to work…

    Hands-on Projects

Although I chose to attend Columbia College Chicago and major in Graphic Design for my undergraduate education, an unexpected thing has happened since I have been here. (Or maybe this experience is to be expected – those of you with more educational experience than me, feel free to let me know!) I chose Columbia for…
